D. Ward Ensign, a school counselor in Toledo Public Schools, is excited to be part of the artistic directing team for Big Fish. He has been a part of numerous theatrical and musical productions, both on and off stage since being in his first musical, Godspell in 1988. He was most recently seen as Gomez Addams in 3B Productions' The Addams Family Musical in Oct. 2015. He has also portrayed Sir Robin in Monty Python's Spamalot and the Bishop in Les Miserables with 3B Productions. Last summer, he played one of the three little pigs and a Forever knight in Shrek with PMT. 
Ensign studied music while earning a bachelors in art education at Bowling Green State University in the early 90's. While there, he sang with BGSU Men's Chorus and Collegiate Chorale as well as performed in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Benjamin), South Pacific (Henry) and The Student Prince (student). In the late 90's he also performed several roles with Today Productions in Toledo: Bye Bye Birdie (Albert), Rags (Avram) and The Sound of Music (Max Detweiler). 
He has been a part of directing and producing numerous teen and adult shows with ToDAY Productions, Zion United Methodist Church, and Rogers High School including, Godspell, Joseph, Cotton Patch Gospel, The Promise, Fiddler on the Roof, Cinderella, Fame, The Witness, and God With Us. Ward is also currently a part of the music team at Unity of Toledo Spiritual Center, where he sings and coordinates groups of singers and soloists for Sunday services. He has a masters in school counseling from the University of Toledo and a masters in Educational Leadership from Bowling Green State University. He has been in education for 19 years (17 with TPS) and currently is School Counseling Director at Scott High School.
